I totally understand how frustrating it can be to unexpectedly gain weight, or find it difficult to lose stubborn weight in the way you once did. It can affect how you feel in your clothes and dent your body confidence.
It’s important to say that we do need to give ourselves some grace during this phase in our lives. There are some potent shifts in our hormones that naturally cause a slight gain in weight and some redistribution in where we find it (hello midriff!). However, maintaining a healthy weight is also crucial for our long-term health. And as a midlife woman myself, I know how important it is to feel body confident.
You may be finding that your tried and tested techniques to lose weight no longer work. Or, maybe they do work temporarily, but then you plateau, and maybe even gain more weight aftewards. The ‘eat less and exercise more’ mantra just doesn’t work anymore.
The good news is that by learning how to work with your changing hormones and metabolism, rather than against them, you can reach your goals, feel and look great, and lay the groundwork for healthy ageing.
However, I also know that making lasting changes and keeping them going can be tricky. Willpower will only go so far and changing your eating habits can bring up all kinds of emotions and resistance. This is why I also use coaching support in my consultations alongside any diet and lifestyle recommendations, to help you tackle any hurdles or blocks.
